Collection: Paul Elia
Paul Elia is a graduate of The Ontario College of Art and Design, where he began integrating Drawing and Painting with Digital Media. He has since exhibited work in various notable galleries all over Southern Ontario. Paul has worked closely with Toronto filmmaker Judith Doyle. Together they formed Reading Pictures, an innovative multi-media organization providing consultation and production services. Paul also worked on art direction and design with the modern abstract painter Ben Woolfitt.
In 2007 Paul moved back to his hometown of Hamilton and began creating his large format cityscapes. The work has grabbed the hearts and imaginations of the Hamilton community. It’s success has followed alongside the cultural renaissance happening in the city.
In addition to showing in many galleries and museums in Hamilton and Toronto, the works can be seen all over the city, from the trendy Earth to Table Bread Bar, to the innovative ping pong lounge Serve, to the cool boutique shop at the center of the James North Art Crawl, Mixed Media. Currently, Paul Elia’s prints are featured in 2 exhibits at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. “Saga of City” in the main gallery and “The Shifting City” at the Design Annex.
In 2012 Paul opened a studio gallery in his unique mid-century modern home in West Hamilton. With the towering escarpment as a backdrop, it was a stunning setting for viewing the large panoramic prints. In 2018 Paul took on an ambitious adaptive re-use project converting a large industrial building in Hamilton’s East End into an incredible new gallery for his work with a modern loft style home above.
